This is a 4-5 watt, 15 meter single band CW rig that was offered as a limited edition kit from KD1JV. I built this in late 2000/ early 2001. It is my first real amateur radio project since I built a slow scan TV monitor back in 1973 as a college project.
A friend of mine, and fellow QRPer, Serge, VA3SB, told me about the QRP community and the incredible projects they were doing. I started surf the QRP pages on the Internet, particularly QRP-L, and I was hooked. For the past 3 or 4 years I have been building up my work bench with good test equipment (much of it kit-built), going to QRP events such as FDIM and Atlanticon, and relearning all that electronics theory I learned back in college.
Most of all, I really enjoying the building and modifying QRP electronic equipment. It requires patience, skill, and ingenuity to take a bunch of resistors, coils and capacitors and make them do what you want. And then when it does what you want, and its nicely packaged, it is indeed its a great feeling of satisfaction. Oh yes, but I haven't packaged this one yet, but I will...
...so many kits...so little time!
