The switches circled in red were toast....due to force of an impact.  This scope obviously didn't fall feet first. I removed the pieces of the channel input switches and permanently wired both inputs in AC mode  (hope I did the right thing!).

The top switch, the one circled in red, was loose and flopping around.  Since it was used in the trigger circuit,  I thought I better try and do something about it.  This thing had no trigger activity. Must be the switch I thought.
